Our Approach
At TI-Z, we seek to influence change at two levels, namely systemic change at institutional and policy levels and attitudinal and behavioural change at personal level focusing on people. We do so, on one side, by strengthening citizen’s demand for transparency and accountability at local and national level, and on the other by pushing for better institutions and regulations and more accountability on the side of duty-bearers.

Our Strategic Focus Areas
Our action is divided across the five main strategic focus areas outlined in the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan: active citizenship and community action; governance and institutional strengthening; public finance management; climate change and environmental sustainability; and high performing organizations. These are primarily financed through our core funding provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), which currently amounts to K28.8 miliion for 2025 (the equivalent of USD 1.1 million) accounting for 83% of our total annual budget. Find out more about each focus area in our menu below.
Our Projects
In addition to our strategic focus areas, we also implement additional projects funded by other sources. These are integrated within the sphere of our core action. Currently, TI-Z implements 5 projects funded by several donors for a total amount of USD 229,000 (17% of our budget). Some of these projects are part of a wider regional and global interventions implemented by the TI movement, to which TI-Z contributes within the Zambia context. Find out more about our ongoing projects as well as the concluded projects in our menu below.
Our Work at the Local Level
Our action is not limited to the national level. We have established volunteer-based community structures called -Transparency Action Groups and District Working Groups, respectively located in 14 and 3 districts of Zambia. By acting as a reference point for receiving complaints and grievances at the local level, investigating any wrong-doing, and reporting on corruption cases, they serve as a crucial bridge between the national and the local level in the fight against corruption in Zambia.
