Objectives: 

  1. To advocate for constitutional, legal, regulatory and policy reforms for effective systems of governance.
  2. To promote electoral integrity, independence, transparency and effectiveness of the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
  3. To support civil society oversight of political and electoral processes throughout the electoral cycle.

Intervention

This project is a progression and expansion on the previous actions that focused on enhancing political integrity and transparency in political party and campaign financing in Zambia.

The present intervention seeks to advance broader democratic governance reforms, promotion of electoral integrity and support a robust civil society oversight of political and electoral processes.

Some of the main activities that the project will carry out include:

  • mapping Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and organizing a joint coalition on the constitutional making process
  • advocacy campaigns and engagement meetings with political stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ)
  • electoral process monitoring
  • research on electoral management and intra party electoral processes
  • developing an intra-party electoral processes monitoring framework
  • carrying out public campaigns, sensitization workshops and media engagement
