TI-Z Statement on the Continued Corruption at Ministry of Finance.

TI-Z is shocked by the revelation by the Anti-Corruption Commission, as reported in today’s edition of Newsdiggers, on the continued obtaining of illegal allowances by 10 employees at the Ministry of Finance, despite the arrest of senior officials from the ministry merely three months ago.
We are of the view that this appalling behavior undermines the trust of the public and erodes the efforts of those who are working tirelessly to promote transparency and accountability within the public sector. It is important that these individuals are identified and held accountable for their actions to restore faith in the Ministry of Finance and the government as a whole.
Corruption is a destructive force that can have severe consequences on a country’s economy and social fabric, and therefore, those involved in it must face the full consequences of their actions, in order to not only be held accountable but also to serve as a deterrent to others who may be tempted to engage in similar corrupt activities.
The seemingly perpetual misconduct at the Ministry of Finance is a worrying trend that requires the urgent attention of the Head of State. Bold steps must be taken to address the systemic weaknesses that seem to exist at such a key Ministry in order to put a stop to the continued hemorrhage of public funds.
