Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I would like, on behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of Transparency International Zambia, to extend our very warm welcome to all of you that have joined us this morning, for the launch of our Assessment Report on the Implementation of recommendations of the IMF Governance Diagnostic Report for Zambia. I also take the opportunity to welcome those joining us virtually on our various social media platforms.
As many of you will know, the Governance Diagnostic Assessment that the IMF conducted and whose report was published in December 2022, is an important tool for enabling different stakeholders to introspect and reflect on 2 the progress we have made as a country in advancing our anti-corruption and good governance objectives. The key recommendations given in the GDA represented some practical interventions intended to help us as a country to advance the anti-corruption and good governance agenda. It was therefore in the broader interest of that agenda that, with the support of the Chandler Foundation, TI-Z conducted this assessment in order to ascertain how much progress we had made as a country in implementing the recommendations in the GDA.
Today’s launch of this assessment report is therefore the culmination of the efforts of the various stakeholders that took part in the assessment. We are confident that as we share the results of this assessment in the next few minutes, this will be yet another opportunity for us as stakeholders in the anti-corruption and good governance arena to recalibrate our efforts to make real progress in our respective contributions to this cause.
The panel discussion we will have after the results of the assessment are shared will be the first step towards our collective thinking on how we can advance this cause, and I’m confident that all of us will be able to engage with the discussion in that respect.
Ladies and Gentlemen, with those few remarks, it is now my honor and privilege to formally welcome you all to the launch of the Assessment Report on Implementation of the IMF GDA recommendations.
I thank you for your attention, and May God Bless us all.
